What is Bound By Oath?

Bound by Oath is a podcast series by IJ’s Center for Judicial Engagement where the Constitution’s past catches up with the present. Article VI of the U.S. Constitution requires every judge to be “bound by Oath” to uphold “this Constitution.” But to understand if judges are following that oath, it’s important to ask, “What is in ‘this Constitution’?”

Narrated by IJ’s own John Ross, Season 1 was a deep dive into the 14th Amendment and its history. Now in Season 2, John focuses on how the Constitution makes the government accountable, and how the courts have unfortunately turned that on its head, creating unaccountable officers, shielded from liability and the citizens they have wronged. “Bound by Oath” features interviews with historians, legal scholars, and the real people involved in historic and contemporary cases.
